Clara Bosshard: sculptural, made to last.

Not everyone under our roof is from just up the road. Clara Bosshard designs and sews her own label from a studio in Wellington — and her work has sat in our store for two years now, sent down by post, one considered piece at a time.

A family of makers, one generation on.

Clara was born into a family of makers and artists — goldsmiths, weavers, filmmakers, painters, generations of people who spent their lives creating objects of beauty. She found her own way into that inheritance through fashion design, tracing back to childhood experiments with fabric and, memorably, a pair of jeans covered in fingernail-sized beads that turned out to be spectacularly uncomfortable to sit on.

She established her label in 2023: simple, elegant garments designed to sit beautifully on the body and impact lightly on the earth. Every piece is designed, pattern-made, developed and sewn by Clara herself, in her Wellington studio — make-to-order, cut from deadstock fabric sourced through New Zealand suppliers, built to outlast the season it was made for.

Why she sits beside the linen.

Clara has never set foot in our store. Everything that’s arrived over the last two years has come by post — and yet the relationship has held, because the work speaks for itself. Considered, made to order, made to last: it’s the same conviction we hold for our own linen, arrived at independently, four hundred kilometres apart.
